Off-Roading/Dual Purpose Tyres for Interceptor 650

  • Hello Bretheren,
This is my second query to the Brotherhood. The first one was about Handle Risers on Interceptor 650. It got satisfactorily answered and I did peruse a few different styles and brands of risers available in the market. Zana and Carbon Racing in particular have VERY high grade stuff made from Aircraft grade aluminum and at around ₹2k to ₹3k they are reasonably priced too. In the end I decided against buying them because the stock handle has felt okay even in the long 10 hour ride to Kausani last week. Nevertheless I did walk away wiser from the discussion about handle risers, here and on the Delhi Chapter whatsapp group. I guess that's the magic of a hive mind and IBR hub is very much that.
Now to my query for the day. Off-Roading/Dual Purpose Tyres for Interceptor 650. How many of you have installed them? What brands? In addition to Ralco do we have any other options? That is one brand name I hear repeatedly when it comes to off-roading/dual purpose tyres for INT650. I have used Ralco on my Classic 500 in the past but despite having excellent grip, both in wet and dry conditions it doesn't last long. Once I did a 18 day tour of Ladakh, went in with brand new tyres and had to get a new set after coming back from the journey. Sadly Ralco does not have longevity as an attribute hence digging deeper for alternates if available. Otherwise good 'ol Ralco will have to do. I've seen quiet a few Interceptors (both Alloy and non Alloy versions) at the IBR Delhi Chapter and I'm assuming other chapters have an increasing number of Interceptors too therefore I'm hoping for a generous dose of advice from my MC family.
That's all for now folks! Godspeed!
    Aando ❤

  • While riding RE, I always had the combination of - Ralco at rear and ceat in front. This was after changing through mulitple brands.
Ralco may have a less longitivity and that's obvious with the kind of juice you can get out of it. Softer rubber will stick to the roads much better; thus prone to wear out earlier.

I personally never liked (or had good time) with MRF. Ceat is far better.

From a recommendation standpoint, try Timsum. Off late, may of our members used it and had good reviews. However, it logitivity is even lesser than Ralco.

  • We can try Reise trailR dual-purpose tires, heard many good reviews on the same

  • So as it happens got Reise TourT tyres are awesome. Got both front and rear changed on my Interceptor. ₹7000 plus ₹1000 for fitting in Lajpat Nagar 1. CM of Delhi chapter @ankurdixit also got the rear tyre changed on his KTM. He is the one who linked me up with Torque Block in Lajpat Nagar 1, New Delhi.
    Few take aways:

    1. Brand: Reise Moto
    2. Front : Tour R 100/90-18 56P
    3. Rear: TourR 130/70-18 63P
    4. Don’t get both tyres changed if you ride a lot in the city and roads are good. The Reise TourR front tyre is a bit knobbly. Excellent for broken roads and mid patches but wobbles wee bit on tarmac.
    5. Reise Sales guy Jayanth in Lajpat Nagar : +91 83173 33914
    6. For fitting : Prestige design ) ₹400 per tyre : 098113 41555 (you will have to get tyre taken out of the bike for them to change it.) Bit fussy about it but lo and behold an expert tyre mechanic exists in the lane 100 meters from Prestige design in B7, Block B, Lajpat Nagar 2. The mechanic takes mere ₹100 per tyre to take it out and put it back.

Main destination for these tyres is the MA ride to Ladakh. I’ll post you guys on how the tyres fair in that magical terrain.

The tyres are amazing. I already fill like a king on off-road. Plus amazing value for money. I’ve heard Reise has been a known brand among our South Indian brethren for a while and I’m not surprised.

  • Even i got it changed my interceptors tyre to Reise lets see how it behaves during our MA.

  • I recently changed my tyres, front MRF and rear Ralco. Tried many tires, Ralco suited me the best for rear.

@Shainoj I've tested for the rattle with an empty box too, and it rattles.

Hello Everyone! Khama Ghani Recently in our chapter attempt leg 1 which is approx of 1650 Kms, me and @ankush1044 have used Bluarmor C30 and here's user experience : Connectivity : Not faced any issue while in range over ridegrid intercom to intercom. Though claimed range of 1.2 Kms (LOS) is still questionable. It worked flawlessly in the range of 800-900 Mtrs I suggest. Not faced a single issue of disconnection in bluetooth connectivity during the whole trip (used for 4 days). Audio quality: Not used many but I think bluarmor is providing exceptional audio quality at this price point. Voice is clear and loud even at the high speed. (it may differ with Helmet, I'm using it with LS2 Storm). Music playback is also above satisfactory, considering it as a budget device. Highs and Mids are clear while Bass fades with higher speed. Ergonomics: Buttons placement in circular way is good thought as it will help rider with identification during gloves on, but functional arrangement of Volume up & down through left and right button, and call merging function with double press of up button is something let down. Also buttons are hard to press and placement is too cramped, identifying and pressing specially double press during rides with gloves on is a challenge. Battery life: Full day of ride intercom + bluetooth connected with phone, answering calls and music playback has only consumed 40% of battery. Always left with battery around 60 to 65% at the end of the day. Thus you can use it for two full day in single charge and throw everything on it. Inter connectivity with other Bluarmor devices: As I already posted in chapter run thread, We rode with @kcna and @the.h.maverick from Indore to Sawai Madhopur. While Anand Sir has C50 and Sapan C30, All three are connected over private ridegrid connection. There were one or two occasional drop in ridegrid connectivity when answering call, which restored automatically. Overall, I'm fully satisfied with the device. Full marks in Audio quality, distinction in Connectivity and features while grace marks in usability due to button placement and feel.

@satty I'm also thinking probably best to play it safe now. Will just go with OEM parts itself. Not worth losing warranty over I feel. Or atleast, not worth losing it immediately after purchase.
