Looking for Motorcycle Fuel Bladder Bags

Moved Queries
  • let me ask puvi he bought one recently during his trip to adi kailash and sayingbitbis pretty good and cheap as well.

  • @dr_abbas
₹8,500/- for the bladder. Can do with Bisleri ka bottle
    😀

  • @TheOne i won't recommend this. Plastic can dissolve in petrol, so not good for long run.

  • @sajeesh This storage cost Rs.199/- for 5 litres. Should hopefully last for one 15days MA.
@Puvi used this for Nepal ride can share his experience

  • My locally hosted LLM (Ollama2 with Mistral) told me this with valid references

    Storing petrol in plastic bag
Storing petrol in a plastic bag is strongly discouraged and potentially hazardous. The search results highlight the risks associated with this practice:

Officials warn against pouring gasoline into plastic bags amid panic over gas shortages, citing the danger of fires and explosions (CBS News, May 14, 2021).
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission advises against carrying gasoline in plastic bags or any other non-approved containers (CBS News, May 14, 2021).
Experts emphasize that general-purpose plastic drums, totes, and containers are not suitable for storing gasoline, as they can react with the fuel and break down its chemical bonds (The Cary Company, Trusted Since 1895).
Storing gasoline in plastic bags can lead to degradation, oxidation, and evaporation, reducing its combustibility and increasing the risk of fires and explosions (The Cary Company, Trusted Since 1895).
Plastic bags are not designed to withstand the chemical properties of gasoline, which can cause them to deteriorate and potentially ignite (ITP Packaging, May 27, 2022).
    Safe Storage Options

Instead, use containers specifically manufactured for gasoline storage, such as:

Type I Safety Cans and Type II Safety Cans (The Cary Company, Trusted Since 1895)
Steel drums (ITP Packaging, May 27, 2022)
These containers are designed to withstand the chemical properties of gasoline and provide a safe and secure storage solution.

    Conclusion

Storing petrol in a plastic bag is a dangerous practice that can lead to fires, explosions, and other hazards. It is essential to use approved containers specifically designed for gasoline storage to ensure safe handling and storage of this flammable liquid.

  • @TheOne bhai I have used it for my last Ladakh ride ( The one amazon link that you have shared ). It is not useful especially when you are doing off roading or bad roads. They started leaking only after 50kms of off-roading. Plastic bags are very dangerous.

  • I’ve just bought Two, Desert Fox , 6 Litre, Fuel Cell bags for the MA cos my Interceptor (or any of the 650s for that matter :))) is greedy for fuel. They are a bit dear on the pocket but worth the investment if one is a regular traveller. So far they built quality looks very sturdy and as it happens Desert Fox are a big thing in Australia, where long distance biking in the outback is the norm. Will post a review post MA.

  • @PrashantSingh Even I ride a Inty 650, hence i was looking for one. Can you please share few pics of the fuel bags. And how much did it cost you ?

  • @sajeesh
    Good details there.

So that means you either buy 6ltrs Desert Fox which is around 8.5 or Jerry cans around 2k each.

  • I think both Jerry Cans or Fuel Bags are fine as long as one can carry them appropriately on the bike. Balanced and tied well to the bikes. Depends on the bike model too. Fuel Bags are handy as they need no special attachments, are light and super easy to carry, have built in straps so sit very well on the tail bag. The Desert Fox ones are ballistic grade and built to last a lifetime. Great reviews from Australia where it originated. Jerry cans are strong too, fuel grade but it mean u will either have to install a Jerry can saddle stay (one sold by Zana etc) which is fine but added costs upto 3k, else u tie them up with bungee cables on the bike. The 5 ltr Jerry cans are small and cute actually. Not as cumbersome as their 20 ltr cousins. I have used Jerry Cans on my Classic 500 via an LC in the past but somehow they didn’t sit well with the design and aesthetics of an Interceptor 650.
Anyway as promised will put a detailed review of the bags once I’m back from the MA. They cos ₹8700 each for a 6 ltr bag from Moto Central. I’ve got two of them, should see me through Ladakh easily. Delivered in 4 days.

  • @Lonewolf bro I have tried to upload pics but somehow unable to do so here! Whats your mobile ? Ping me on 8126303032, will send pics, links to buy etc.
